Field Notes / Vol. 13
Egyptian rhubarb scented postcards and other delightful discoveries you never knew you needed until now.
Scented Postcards from Paris
Leave it to Buly to reinvent snail mail in the chicest form. Their beautifully illustrated postcards reveal herbaceous scents like Egyptian rhubarb and Iraqi Beetroot. You can also order a hand-calligraphy telegram for a special recipient and they’ll post it for you from Paris (take my money!). The retail world needs more original ideas like this.
MG&Co Opens Shop in London
Matilda Goad opened her first permanent brick and mortar shop in London this week! You can pay them a visit at 194 Ebury Street, SW1. Our family is going to be across the pond often next year (perk of having in-laws in the UK) and something tells me I’ll be popping in frequently. Congrats Matilda!
Chocolate Brown Velvet Coat
This coat is so special with its long velvet drape and handsome frog buttons. It would look equally chic over pants or long dresses this holiday season. A true forever piece.
Spiral Ring No. 3
It can be hard to find fine jewelry that feels unique these days, but this stunning 18K yellow gold ring by Griegst isn’t something you see everyday. Produced since the 1970s in Denmark, the pieces are “Griegst’s ode to antique Roman jewelry as if seen through a magnifying glass found at the bottom of the sea.” Yes, please.
London Review of Books Tote
My fellow bookworms will appreciate these new totes by the London Review of Books. The colorful stripes are pure joy and they’re available in multiple colors. How’s a girl to choose?!
Birdseye Fleece Jacket
The custom ivory and blue birdseye jacquard of this fleece jacket is such fun. I’m always looking for a cozy sherpa for fall and the pattern, hood, and longer length of this design makes it my absolute dream. It’s also available as a cute vest.
Sussex Lustreware Jug
At the risk of becoming a museum shop fan account (too late?!), this earthenware jug is not to be missed. Crafted in limited quantities by Sussex Lustreware exclusively for England’s National Gallery, each piece must be fired four times to get that dreamy soft sheen. Wouldn’t it be charming perched on a bookshelf or mantle filled with flowers?!
Easy Garden Clogs
I may not have a garden anymore, but I’m a sucker for a good clog. Gardenheir just introduced this slimmer, softer, lighter-weight version of their bestselling clogs and I’m coveting a pair. They’re made in Europe with natural rubber (the colors!) and are as practical as they are chic. Perfect for pulling weeds or running errands around town.
Jacoba Wool Cardigan
Would it even be a true Field Notes without a hint of leopard? I love that at first glance this looks like a coat, but it’s in fact a long knit cardigan (the length is just so good!). British brand Rixo wasn’t even on my radar until last year, but I now own a few of their pieces and find myself reaching for them constantly. Did I mention it comes in a shorter length, too?
Brass Bow Tree Topper
Something about this oversized brass bow for the top of your Christmas tree made me smile. I’m excited to have a bit of fun with our holiday decor this season.
Footed Splatterware Bowl
Imagine this overflowing with clementines (keep the stems and leaves on) lounging on your kitchen counter or breakfast table. Even simple fruit feels elevated (figuratively and literally) in a footed bowl.
That’s all for now folks. Thanks for being here.

Love that tree topper!
Love the London jug - thinking about getting it for my husband for Christmas since he’s a member at the National Art Gallery!
