Field Notes / Vol. 19
Cashmere stripes, embroidered elephants, poofy polka dots, and other delights.
Striped Cashmere Crewneck Sweater
Have you checked out at Banana Republic lately? I don’t know who’s designing the stuff, but they deserve a raise. This striped sweater is just one of 10+ things I’ve recently added to my cart.
Exotic Tree with Temple Pillow
I spotted this embroidered pillow at William Laman earlier this week, and it took every ounce of self-restraint not to walk out with it. The 18th-century-inspired jungle scene (that elephant! those monkeys!) would bring a little far-flung adventure wherever it lands.
Canonbury Press Greeting Cards
I appreciate a cheeky greeting card, and the retro-inspired selection from this English stationery shop never fails to make me smile. From Chantilly cream–topped desserts to frosting Easter eggs, they seem to have something just right for every occasion.
Olympe Cashmere Cardigan
I stumbled across this yummy cardigan in person last week, and it’s even more gorgeous up close. The classic Fair Isle pattern and bracelet-length sleeves give off a sweet vintage charm.
Ribboned Bulletin Board
Because even your reminders deserve a wardrobe change. I spotted these hand-upholstered bulletin boards in London last summer and have been dreaming about them ever since. They’d certainly level up my vision board game.
Polka Dot Taffeta Drawstring Cargo Pants
I cherish these pants in gingham, so you can bet I added the new polka-dot pair straight to cart. Silk taffeta, cargo pockets, and a drawstring waist—a formula that never fails.
Strangers by Belle Burden
I flew through this memoir about a New York mother of three abruptly left by her hedge-fund husband. It’s clear-eyed, unsentimental, and at times quietly devastating. I loved how Burden reclaims her narrative—her children must be immensely proud.
Chinoiserie Napkins
These colorful napkins bring Antoinette Poisson’s signature chinoiserie print off the walls and onto the dinner table. I can’t wait to check out their new boutique in Paris this spring.
Bisous Kimono
A collaboration between fashion label Daydress and stationery brand Scribble & Daub, this darling kimono is covered in lipstick kisses inspired by Andy Warhol illustrations. Do I need the matching pajamas, too?!
Show Ribbons
These show ribbons, inspired by mid-century pony rosettes, would look darling strung across a children’s room. I have a feeling the pink one, in particular, would absolutely delight my seven-year-old this Valentine’s Day.
Bonsoir Paris Showcase
Consider this your passport to Paris, no plane ticket required. This hand-painted Parisian night scene reminds me of my fourth-grade social studies diorama, only much, much better.
