Field Notes / Vol. 21
Seashell soaps, stationery goals, upcoming art shows, and other delights on my radar.
Seashell Soap
My husband grew up in Dorset, England so naturally these seashell soaps from the southwest coast were love at first sight. The brand worked with scientists from the University of Cambridge to transform seashell waste into a sustainable, nutrient-rich ingredient for skincare. Microplastic free is the way to be!
Polka Dot Shirt and Midi Skirt
This easy breezy set by Danish designer Marlene Birger is calling my name. Who wouldn’t want to be swathed in organic cotton polka dots? Add these flats if you really want to commit.
Plaid Portuguese Stoneware Plates
I can’t stop thinking about these Portuguese plates. Plaid can often skew stuffy, but these hand-painted stripes lend a casual charm, don’t you think? They’re very reasonably priced and available in both dessert and dinner sizes.
Liberty Heart Jewelry Boxes
These heart-shaped jewelry boxes in iconic Liberty London prints are perfect for February and beyond. This yellow one would be my personal pick.
Stationery Set
Looking to step up your snail mail game? I’m newly obsessed with the personalized stationery sets by The Paper Goods. They have several chic options, but the Winona, in particular, is speaking to me. “Subtle, playful, and a little poetic”—yes, please.
Cotton Poplin Trapeze Maxi Shirt Dress
I live in long dresses during the warmer months and this flattering A-line take on the classic shirt dress will be on heavy rotation. If you find the green too Kermit the frog, it’s available in black and in a gorgeous clay color, too.
Gingham Wastebasket
Such a simple thing, yet it would bring me so much happiness! If matchy matchy is your vibe, it’s available as a tissue box holder, too.
Terracotta Planters
Instantly bookmarked these hand-crafted planters finished with a ruffly rim (apparently it was inspired by a homemade pie crust—my kind of design reference).
Tiwi Sunglasses
I love the modern cat-eye shape of these playful sunnies from Spain. They’re available in a wide variety of colors and would level up any outfit.
Mary Cassatt: An American in Paris
I’m itching for a Washington, D.C. trip to see the Mary Cassatt exhibition opening February 14 at the National Gallery. Marking 100 years since her death, it’s a rare chance to spend time with many of her works up close.
Other finds worth noting:
Eager to try my hand at these darling valentines.
Love the cut of this shirt (plus, stripes!).
A great statement necklace.
Can’t wait to catch this exhibition in London this spring.
Pretty lace-trim placemats for a steal. Also, napkins!
A very fun new jacket for winter-turns-spring.
I’d live in this (already have it in grey—great quality for the price!).
Now that’s what I call a greeting card.
Enjoyed this simple tulip bouquet tutorial by Willow Crossley.
Will be giving these new puppies a spin in spring.
Wishing you a cozy week.

That stationery! You find the coolest things.
