Field Notes / Vol. 23
Statement necklaces, timeless styling wins, and pressed flower perfection. Pretty things on my mind this week.
Summer Statement
This playful necklace by Danish jewelry brand Annie Lu has me dreaming of summertime. The long paracord strand is decorated with a mess of semiprecious stones (jade, tigers eye, rose quartz…!) and would be a dream paired with white linen.
Understatedly Chic
This photo from the latest Pamela Munson drop stopped me in my tracks. It’s so understatedly chic, right?! Obviously the bag was immediately added to cart, but the overall styling with the bouncy long bob, classic Celine sunnies, and crisp white button down just made my heart sing.
Bobbin Beauties
These happy bobbin side tables would be great fun indoors or out. Made of wood with a shiny lacquered finish, they’re the perfect spot to rest a cocktail or display your favorite plant.
Pressed Flower Postcards
I’m hoping to pick up this book of floral postcards when I’m in Paris next month. They’re selected and pressed by a French fellow named Jean-Luc and sold at beloved stationery shop L’Ecritoire (26 passage Molière, 75003 Paris). Wouldn’t they make for frame-worthy snail mail?
Wide Leg Wonder
These gorgeous green satin pants just landed online and I’m crazy about both the cut and color. The wide leg is beyond flattering and the green truly seasonless, but also perfect for spring!
Millefiori Moment
These fabulous bud vases are handblown at a family factory in Murano, Italy. They’re all so stunning, how’s a girl to choose?! One style has already sold out—clearly I need to make up my mind fast.
Seeing Stripes
Add some interest to your outfit with one of these cheerful striped clutches. I am crazy about their retro color pairings! Did I mention you can buy pants to match?
Bode Opens in Tokyo
Bode recently opened its first Asian outpost (3-chōme-43-1 Uehara, Shibuya, Tokyo), and the space feels entirely true to the brand’s offbeat, “historical American luxury” sensibility. Tucked into the ground floor of a Tokyo apartment building, it has that elusive too-cool-to-care energy. Exclusive pieces include bras and pillows sewn from midcentury National Parks souvenir pillowcases—something I never knew I needed until now.
Mermaid Necklace
I’m not typically a big mermaid girl, but something about this necklace made me break into a grin. I’d layer it with other casual necklaces for a swim or pair it with a breezy sundress.
Meet the Mitfords
If you share my fascination with the Mitford sisters this new graphic novel will surely capture your interest. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but really, what’s not to love?
Embroidered Goodness
This pistachio sweater with its floral embroidery was immediately added to cart. It would be darling for spring—the green on green feels so fresh!
Other finds worth noting:
Obsessed with the Lingua Franca x NPR collab. This cardigan!
From today until 3/9 use code code KATIEA20 for 20% off orders of $100+ at Anthropologie. They have some great new arrivals (this flower press kit, this dress, these raffia slides, this striped pillow, this dress, this striped cardigan…lots to love!).
Can’t wait to read this book with Gabe.
My fellow stationery nerds will appreciated this peek at Simon Rocha’s desk.
My new favorite sheets (the stripes are so good!) are part of the Brooklinen Friends & Family sale (they’re offering up to 50% off bundles which is wild!). These super plush robes are also fabulous (again, great stripes) and make a fantastic gift.
Just bought tickets to see this exhibit in Paris later this month.
Violet Grey’s home fragrance selection is top notch. In addition to my all-time favorite candle, they also now have this one which reminds me of my home state, and this enormous vessel which smells divine and doubles as a vase when you’re through with it!
A very cute collab I’ll be stocking up on in Paris (they ship stateside!).
I love this hydrating lipstick so much I ordered it in two additional shades. I have the ‘nectar’ color and just ordered the ‘juice’ and ‘ballerine.'
Thanks for being here.
