Field Notes / Vol. 24
Eyelet espadrilles, beachy beads, and a Kalman pop-up you won't want to miss.
Hello my loves! My sincerest apologies that I've been a bit MIA while I was putting the finishing touches on my new website, but I'm back on Substack and excited to dive in. Today’s field notes are full of delicious finds and I have a more personal post for paid subscribers coming later this week about everything I bought in Paris last month (spoiler: it was my 40th birthday and I spent too much). Stay tuned!
Beaded Beauties
This necklace and bracelet by éliou look like they were passed down from a bohemian great-aunt. Hand-strung with natural stones, they’re the kind of pieces I’d throw on and forget to take off. In fact, I’m wearing this one as I type.
Cashmere Stripes
This tank and cardigan by Suzie Kondi are very much my vibe (multicolor stripes!). Soft, marled cashmere in the prettiest palette—easy, but still pulled together. It’s available as a smart crewneck, too.
Eyelet Espadrilles
These clover-embroidered espadrilles from Loeffler Randall promise good luck and plenty of compliments. Their relaxed Mary Jane shape would pair perfectly with everything from blue jeans to summer dresses.
Tassel Time
I’m a sucker for a statement pendant and this $48 tassel necklace looks far more expensive than it is (don’t you just love when that’s the case?).
A Must-See Show
My friend Jane and I popped into the Gagosian last week to see the new Helen Frankenthaler show and my mind was blown by the sheer scale of her work. If you find yourself in New York, it’s a must-see situation. Also, a moment for the book cover!
Provençal Mules
Leave it to Ms. Mashburn to dream up the world’s most charming summer flats. I love that they’ve been designed with a higher vamp for minimal clacking. Now I just need a ticket to Saint-Rémy.
Chartreuse Showstopper
The type of bag that not-so-quietly steals the show. This handwoven bucket bag by one of my favorite Italian brands is finished with delicate stones that catch the light in a magical way.
Shaker Outpost
I’m eager to get upstate to catch Maira Kalman’s pop-up shop at the Shaker Museum in Chatham, NY. The beloved illustrator is curating an exhibition there featuring pieces from the Shaker collection alongside new paintings. The show and shop are open through July 5.
Murano Pitcher
Something about Venetian glass gets me every time. The brilliant colors of this pitcher would perk up any dinner table.
